Meet Your Coach

The playbook he wishes someone had handed him.

Joe VanOosterhout
Founder, V12 Tech Labs
United States Navy Veteran · Former Fortune 500 Director
The Short Version

Two decades leading teams through ambiguity. No shortcuts. No fast track.

Joe has spent two decades operating at the edge, under pressure, in ambiguity, and against the clock. United States Navy operations in the 5th Fleet. Intelligence work in active war zones. A ten-year run leading technology and delivery at a Fortune 500 brand.

Every step from Petty Officer to Fortune 500 Director earned. No shortcuts, no fast track. V12 Tech Labs is the playbook he wishes someone had handed him at each of those inflection points.

The Long Version

Four chapters. One through-line.

01
2004 – 2009 · United States Navy

The Uniform Years.

Joe served as a Cryptologic Technician (Collection) Second Class, honorably discharged after five years of active-duty service. Assignments at Sugar Grove, West Virginia and with the United States Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, one earned at each station.

Named Fifth Fleet Sailor of the Quarter in 2007. Received a Letter of Commendation from Rear Admiral Scott H. Swift. The Navy taught him how to operate under pressure, with people he did not choose, on problems that did not care about his feelings.

02
Post-Service · Intelligence Analyst & Product Owner

Civilian Transition Years.

After the Navy, Joe carried military discipline into the civilian world as an Intelligence Analyst and Product Owner. The work demanded the same standards he had been held to in uniform: precision under pressure, structured thinking, and outcomes that could not be faked.

This is where product ownership became a craft for him. Not a role, not a title, not a certification. A discipline. Translating mission-grade rigor into the language of product, requirements, and delivery taught Joe a way of working that has shaped every leadership role he has held since. Everything that came later was built on this foundation.

03
Ten-Year Run · Fortune 500 Brand

The Growth Years.

Joe spent ten years at a Fortune 500 brand, rising from Senior Manager to Director. He led the rewrite of the customer tracker, launched the first autonomous pizza delivery operation in partnership with a major United States automaker, and built the loyalty program that redefined category norms for customer acquisition.

At his peak he owned a multi-ten-million-dollar budget, a twelve-person direct leadership team, and a matrixed organization of more than one hundred and eighty engineers and contractors. He's deployed millions of dollars of software by building high performing teams to meet the challenge.

He also watched the environment turn. The Growth Years taught him how to build. They also taught him what happens when you stop investing in the people who built it with you.

04
2025 – Present · V12 Tech Labs

The Build Years.

Joe left the Fortune 500 to build V12 Tech Labs. He is a graduate of a 6-month, one-on-one, ELITE Coaching Program led by Navy SEAL veteran Ray Cash Care, earned his FAA Private Pilot certificate, and holds both Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Product Owner credentials.

V12 is built on a simple premise: the thing he is best at is building people up. Every program V12 runs is designed to transfer judgment, discipline, and pattern recognition from Joe onto the people he coaches, so they do not have to learn it the hard way.

Why People Choose Joe

The standards he holds himself to.

01

Passion for People

He coaches because nothing else lights him up the way this does. Every roster seat is a mission.

02

Knowledge Passed Forward

What he learned the hard way, he teaches the easy way. The playbook is yours, not his to hoard.

03

High-Performing Teams

He has built and led them at every scale. From teams in need of course correction to teams built from scratch. Each team he has led has performed at the highest level.

04

Never Quits

Twenty years of evidence. Petty Officer to Director. Every step earned. No shortcuts taken, no exits offered.

05

Loyalty

To the people he coaches, to the teams he serves, to the standard he carries. The work is a personal mission.

The Personal Code

Why this company, and why now.

Joe built V12 because he realized the thing he is best at is building people up; and he could not do that and his day job at the same time. So he chose.

He is a graduate of a 6-month, one-on-one, ELITE Coaching Program led by Navy SEAL veteran Ray Cash Care.

V12 is not a solo founder with a LinkedIn pivot. It is a firm built to grow, built on two decades of earned experience, and built for the people who refuse to stay where they are.

“We teach you how to not make the same mistakes as we did — so you can build a bridge over our failures to your success.”
